5 Ways to Effectively Downsize Your Home


Whether you realize it or not, downsizing your home can also be a challenging and daunting on our part. Of course, we have to think of what things you need to keep and things that are worthy to be thrown away. Basically, when we talk about downsizing, you need to eliminate useless things in your home. Sometimes, even if you live in 1016 Residences or any other real estate in the Philippines, you still need to downsize for as not to keep too much stuff at home.

However, not all homeowners are able to understand or grasp the idea on downsizing. Perhaps, for as long as they have the things they want in their home, then it would be nice. But in reality, it is definitely a no-no. And as a result, they don't appreciate the design of their home since there are so many useless things that are kept at home. And I'm sure one way or another, you want to get rid of it. Right?

That is why, if you are one of those homeowners who are having a hard time finding ways on how they can do downsizing in their home, then fret not! Below are some tips for you to do for as to effectively and successfully achieve what you desire for your home.


1. Be realistic


We have to remember that not all things are going to fit in one room or perhaps, in your house. There must be some things that you need to compromise just to have a cozy home. And whether you like it or not, you need to choose which of your things that are really useful to you. However, if you think that that particular thing doesn't hold value anymore, then learn to let go of that thing. Don't keep them in your home, it will only cause you some clutter.

2. Evaluate needs vs. wants


There will always be the difference between wants and needs. Sometimes, you don't need the things that you want to have for your home. And it is definitely a no-no if you want to go downsizing. For instance, we have so many things we want to include in our bedroom, however, before you decide to include a particular thing, you have to think again whether or not it is useful for you. And if it is not, then you better scrap the idea of having that particular thing in your bedroom. You should learn how to be wise when it comes to the things you need from the things you want.


3. Bring in the limited storage tricks


Storages are one of the most important things when it comes to downsizing. Of course, you need to have some storage for your things to be kept properly. Well, for you not to be confused with which things belongs which storage, then you better label it. With that, it will be much easier for you to find the things you want to use at home. Also, you have to be resourceful when it comes to the storages you have at home. You can definitely do some DIY storages to save some money.


4. Be creative about replacing what won't fit


There are just some things at home that it can still be of use but it don't look good. Perhaps, it is already damage through time. However, if you think that it can still of use, then you better be creative when it comes to choosing things that are durable enough for you to use at home. Of course, don't choose things you think that it won't last.

5. Reuse what you have


This is one of the things you should consider for you to save more money. Just because you go downsizing, doesn't mean you are just going to throw all the useless things away. If you think that that particular thing can still be reuse, then this is the time for you to be creative when it comes to thinking about how to reuse that particular thing again for your home.
